URL perlmonks.org No Longer Works

I have used the URL perlmonks.org for as long as I can remember. However, the last 2 or 3 days it brings up a maintenance message. Today, I tried perlmonks.com and logged in as usual. Why the change, and why were no notices given? Is this URL change permanent, or will it revert to perlmonks.org sometime in the future? Thanks for any info you can provide.

I doubt it changed. I'm using .org for this reply. .com failed a day ago. I think you just struck misleading timing where things started working again between using .org and using .com URLs for PerlMonks. See Currently only /index.pl works, the root URL / is broken.

Thanks for the input GrandFather, but it's been 2 days and when I use perlmonks.org I still get the Hag-seed display, so I'm switching my shortcuts to perlmonks.com until further notice.\

It could be that your browser still shows you a cached version of the page.

The perlmonks.org URL now works correctly. :)

Thanks PJ. We owe you so much. Groklaw -- RIP -- 2003 to 2013.

It was working way back on 2024-10-18 when I wrote my first reply in this thread.

yes, but those of us with more aggressive caches didn't notice immediately 🤪
