Problems getting e-mails from Perlmonks (UPDATE: FIXED)

by LanX (Saint)
on Dec 21, 2024 at 16:37 UTC ( [id://11163313]=monkdiscuss: print w/replies, xml ) Need Help??

I'm not sure if the local emailing is broken, amputated by anti-spam measures by google or if the monastery is simply blocking my IP.
  • I tried various email addresses (also non-gmail) to create a new account but no avail
    --> Create A New User
  • I also tried to get password reminder, also no success
    --> What's my password?

Does it work for anyone else?

update

In the meantime I got one new account email via @cpan.org.

    1. I tried it out
    2. didn't receive password reminder
    3. changed email address to non-google domain
    4. retried
    5. received mail
    So, the problem is probably with gmail.
      Well it's known that gmail has extreme restrictions to block potential spam.

      But I noticed that the emails are not from vroom personal address anymore.

      Do you also see these headers?

      From: noreply@perlmonks.org ... Reply-To: perlmonks.org@gmail.com Subject: new user mail

      The Reply-To seems weird ...

      update

      there seem to be problems with the Sender_Policy_Framework records

      AND ...

      SPF record lookup and validation for: perlmonks.org

      SPF records are published in DNS as TXT records.

      The TXT records found for your domain are:
      v=spf1 a mx ip4:216.92.34.25 ip4:66.39.54.27 ~all

      Checking to see if there is a valid SPF record.

      Found v=spf1 record for perlmonks.org:
      v=spf1 a mx ip4:216.92.34.25 ip4:66.39.54.27 ~all

        What is wrong about the reply-to? This is our shared mailbox.

        I'll look into the SPF when I get to it.

    PerlMonks is unable to email me. At least it wasn't able to 10 years ago. I don't know if anything has changed.

        Logged out, said I forgot my password, and I received it (although it was sent to spam). Whatever issue used to prevent this no longer exists.
