PerlMonks .com .net .org Why so many?

I just realized that there 3 different PerlMonks URLS. I am logged in at PerlMonks.com and I was surprised when I clicked on a link that took me to Perlmonks.net/somewhere that I wasn't logged in. So, my question is is there some benefit to having three different sites other than just reserving the name to make sure no one else occupies another one of the main addresses? And why aren't all of the different URLS automatically forward you to PerlMonks.com?

Please next time consider using a search for questions which where obviously asked before. And there are more.

If you don't like supersearch consider Google or duckduckgo with a site:www.perlmonks.org in the query.

FWIW I have a Nodelet-hack normalizing every absolute link inside the monastery to the current domain.

Simple regex and solves a lot of headache.

Really? The Domain Nodelet is activated by default on second position.

I usually do that. This time, however, I didn't know what to search for. If I type "PerlMonks" in the search, I thought that's going to bring up a million hits and none of which is what I am looking for, so I thought, I'll just ask the question.

What is a "Domain Nodelet" btw? I clicked on it https://perlmonks.com/?node=Domain%20Nodelet and it's just a blank page. ?????

        It's not blank, just minimal.

If you haven't deactivated nodelets in Nodelet Settings, then try Ctrl-f for "Domain Nodelet" to find it in your view.
