  1. You are visiting your mother-in-law's house and when nobody is looking, you sneak onto her computer and use
her 26.6 kbps AOL connection to check Perl Monks. You have her AOL username and password memorized. </li
  2. Your wife, who only uses the Internet to shop and check email, knows about Perl Monks. It is usually referenced in
this type of context: "Get off of Perl Monks and come to bed."
  3. You notice that ChemBoy is the only monk who is at PM more then you.

    • Your girlfriend refers to herself as a "Perl Monk Widow"
    • The construct '/me' starts creeping into your thoughts, as in "/me needs to go to sleep" or "/me hates mondays"
    • You go from abbot to pontiff in less than 9 days... (bishop occupies the 700 XP gap between the two)

Bah! With PerlMonks, who needs a girlfriend?

(online relationships are the best, FWIW)

      -Saint John

        • When you post >6 nodes a day for 19 weeks straight, weekends included
        • When you start signing nodes with your Rank prefacing your name
        • When other monks take bets on how long it will take you to write 500 nodes.

Wait! This isn't a Parachute, this is a Backpack!

Bah! Why memorize your mother in law's password? It's far too easy to guess.

IAE, as with many different questions, ideas, and theories, this too can be found using your friend. In this case, you need the phrase perl monk addict.

    • When you are going to check you email and you type www.perlmonks.org in the location bar and you don't know why...
    • When your boss ask you about the program he asked you to do, and you say: it is in the code catacombs

    • When you just can't stop thinking of stupid nicknames you could login with.
    • When you wonder whether it's better to refer to people with square brackets around their name or without. Or whether you should refer to people with brackets only like so.

Your girlfriend considers starting a new site called girlfriendmonks.org where one can fulfill a desire for ++es by taking out the trash, buying gifts, and doing the dishes. ;-O
