    Actually, I do not try to obfuscate. It just happens when I try to write code.

    ha-- this is a coincidence to see this quiz today!

    this morning i was showing a perl program -which i thought was a pretty basic, straighforward program- to a friend who's primarily a C++ programmer. although he uses perl to do some basic shell script stuff, i got a nice "what the heck are you DOING?" reaction. i guess he doesn't yet use references to hashes of hashes of arrays & write 3 line regexen to do his work. (;

    it was a funny reminder to me that what isn't obfuscated to a perl programmer is totally obfuscated to a the poor folks who have to use other languages. -- cat

    Yes, I'm an XP whore when it comes to the obfu. Please vote this, this and this up. :)

    But seriously... I just started to obfu recently to build up my Perl chops. I've learned so much from doing this. Highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't tried it. And it's great when you want to code, but can't think of anything important to write.

    You didnt specify making oneself invisible or obfuscating code on the question... I assumed the invisible option

    I cannot obfuscate myself... neither can one of my Vampire characters, but the other can obfuscate himself quite well... but then, that's to be expected from his clan.

    Oh, as for the code, I like readable maintainable code... not sure why :-P

    do people obfuscate in languages other than Perl? if so, I'm not aware of it
      There's the Obfuscated C contest which St. Larry has won more than once, and there's even such a thing as Obfuscated Python. I think this dude was meant to be a Perl programmer, but was led astray somewhere along the line.
      Hi all,

      The International Obfuscated C Code Contest lives at http://www.ioccc.org/. There's some entertaining stuff there.

      Enjoy!

    Isn't that what Microsoft is into these days? And their code has always been obfuscated from view...
