jfroebe has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Hi all,

I would like to give an introduction to Perl presentation at work and am having trouble finding a document that is freely available with a compatible creative commons license. Does anyone know of such a presentation?

http://perl-begin.org/tutorials/perl-for-newbies/ is offered into the public domain (cc zero)

http://www.ignition-training.com/booklets/perldistilled.pdf is Creative Commons - attribution, no derivatives (cc by-nd 3.0) which means commercial use is acceptable.

The perldoc tutorials are released under the same license as perl itself.

I'm not immediately aware of others with an explicitly commercial-okay license for gratis. I wish more lists of tutorials and books listed the licenses with the other details.

Beyond those there are a good many for personal non-commercial use one could encourage others to download for more information. Also, if it's for work there shouldn't be a problem buying a copy of materials for each person unless it's a very small business or this has no manager approval.

What's the format/content of the presentation specifically? Is this a sort of tutorial, or is it simply informational? That would probably help us pin down a little more what you need.

More of a Perl for korn/bash/etc coders. The audience is a bunch of DBAs that know how to write in korn shell so they do know how to code but Perl is new for them.

I don't have what you asked for but I might suggest picking up a copy of this to use in creating your own lesson/template: Minimal Perl For UNIX/Linux People, ISBN 9781932394504.
