It seems to me you're making the rookie mistake of thinking that an upvote (or downvote) on a post is also a vote on the user who posted it.
Man, you're institutionalised.
I'm not making a mistake. I (now) know it isn't; but I was probably under the impression that it was; but never cared enough to go find out.
I also happen to believe -- very strongly -- that ought to be so. BUT I HAVE NOT AND AM NOT SUGGESTING IT BE CHANGED!.
I also know that it would be easier to turn lead into gold; than to persuade the architect that he made a mistake those years ago.
