(Humor) The IT Secret Service

We're looking for a few intelligent people!

The IT Secret Service, those information technology do-gooders dedicated to protecting the sanity of the troops in the trenches, the men and women that spend their days doing the work of magicians throughout time; creating something from nothing for the entertainment of those whose puny, primitive minds, could never begin to comprehend the work behind the pretty colors and stylish GUIs, is looking for new applicants.

Should you choose to join our hallowed ranks, understand that your work will only truly be understood by those programmers, hackers, code poets and grunts who strive day-to-day to make the wishes, thoughts and drug-induced dreams of the corporate 'visionaries' reality.

Your job would be to shield your assigned executive from the grenades of vendor vaporware, to throw yourself in front of the strafing fire of ignorant thought, and the random rat-tat-tat of the dreaded phrase "We could program something like that tested, secure application with the talent we have in house in a couple weeks I bet."

You would be expected to gently educate your charge with an iron hand inside your IT velvet glove, like a drill sergeant in a pre-school teacher uniform, guiding your executive through the pitfalls of public speaking and promise making, and down the long and arduous path of informed and intelligent IT decision making.

The IT secret service, it's not just a job; it's a way of life.

C-.

The preceding was based on a conversation that I had with an IT "visionary" on Friday, and a comment made by virtualsue in the CB.
