The Road to Perl-Wisdom?
I've tamed the Llama to the best of my ability and I'm currently trying to ride the Camel. The hump is making it a little difficult to stay on but I'm persevering. I'm also learning to cook a little as I try and complete my first journey with the animals, I wouldn't want to waste anything afterall!I'm trying to learn a little object-oriented programming in Perl and finding perltoot to be a wonderful friend. :)
Some resources I've found useful on and off our monastary (only the most recent ones are shown)...
- hacker's reply to Secure Session Management and the thread itself
- Map Tutorial: The Basics
- Ovid's CGI Tutorial
Favourite Personal Nodes
- Abstract Hedgehog 1
- Newbies, trying to help, and where to draw the line?
- Safely transferring information on the internet
- Is it possible to use modules without installing them?
- The necessity of flock-ing files that are only to be read.
Any other stuff?
Do you have free-time? Want to learn something of Perl and the perlmonks community? I highly recommend trying out some of these nodes to start with for help and entertainment ... ybiC, Turnstep, crazyinsomniac, Ovid and merlyn.
Other things I'm still finding useful to check are best nodes and worst nodes.
Me?
I'm from the UK, spent the last 6 months working in the USA and now I'm working in Canada. Unfortunately most of my work is not Perl related at the moment but that will change... I'll show them! :)
Notes
1 Not the most original of obfuscations in the scheme of things but I was certainly impressed with myself *grin* I was rather dismayed to find out similar things had been done before but I guess until I've had a little more practice these things will happen :)
