I don’t learn a language because it is Perl, or because it is Java. I learn languages mainly because I want to have more choices. I always look at multiple candidates, and thus get a better chance to pick the right thing for the right project, (or a piece of a project). There is no such thing as the best language, but there might be a best choice for a particular project.
