That's been going on for ages and transcends programming. Yes, it's elitist bullshit. Yes, people fear what they don't know. Yes, there are technical improvements we could implement to change this. Yes, people are working on them. Yes, everything will be fine. Yes, you may go about your business. Then again, we could always use more Perl Advocacy! (and yes, I did look at the link :)
