Have you considered getting DSL and just hosting it yourself? Most DSL providers these days do static IP addresses. Throw up a recent Linux or *BSD distro on a box that's up all the time, install Apache, wu-ftpd, (sendmail|qmail|postfix|whatever) and have at it.

It's not suitable for high-volume work, but it's really not a big deal. I've been doing it myself for years...

    Yes, that was part of my plan, but then DIRECTV DSL went under. . . and I haven't found anything to fill the void.

      Ah, I missed your location--should've checked first. :)

      In that case, I'd definitely recommend pair, as they seem quite clued as these things go.
