After reading Simple Backup Script I realized that BackupPC hasn't been mentioned here. I've been using it for a few months now on my home network and it works great. As with other recent CUFP nodes, this isn't mine and I'm not affiliated with the project. I just think it's a pretty Cool Use For Perl.
