It is my opinion that this is a tremendously silly criticism. So, Chris DiBona and CowboyNeal and robo have pictures in rotation, even though they're not level 6 or higher. There are even pictures of people who (to my knowledge) have never even *visited* the site. I don't have a problem with that.

vroom gave himself a million XP, when some people started getting close to his natural level. I don't have a problem with that, either. I think he's done a wonderful job on taking a complex piece of software, extending it to meet his vision, and keeping it running.

I also think that if the worst thing that happens to you lately is that you have to wait a few weeks to get a small picture of yourself on a popular-but-still-niche website somewhere, you're pretty blessed.

I don't feel any sort of slight that there's a node called The St. Larry Wall Shrine, being that Larry's never visited the site (to my knowledge) but I have -- and have earned my rank of Saint.

vroom started this site, he took a good idea and made it real. His job is to keep it running, and his company foots the bills. Yes, it's the content from users that attracts and retains new people, but your overinflated claims of tyrrany and injustice ring rather hollow.

My free advice is, drop it now and find something else to do. There's a nice Slashdot article on helping out Non-Profit organizations. Perhaps that would be a better use of our time.

Yes? And that policy is documented. Maybe if you had more quality posts you would be at level by now. Monks think inward, you are projecting outward.

why can't I ask a question publically criticising you and why must I be voted down as result? It is a legitimate criticism.

It isn't what you ask, but how you ask. Noone likes finger pointing and whining. If your question was phrased differently, I think it would have made all the difference. That is why another post I said that more thought should be put into posts.

In short: one should not be voted down when they express something distasteful, but only when the content itself is poort.

It was poor, at least IMO. That is why I voted it, and all your replies (also with poor content) down. Please think before you post, you are what shows in your words.

honestly, i don't know why you care so much. so you don't have your picture up in the rotation yet, so what? last i checked you were at level 5 (though this thread certainly isn't helping any). its only going to be a little while until you make level 6.

its not so much the question that people didn't like, its the tone you were using to ask it. you're acting like a spoiled child. so DiBona has a picture up in the rotation and he's not level 6, so? and i think vroom does have the right to decide who's pictures go up there. those pictures are seen on every node in this place... just like the links at the top and some of the ads (not to mention the nodelets if you so choose). this makes it vroom's decision on what gets placed there, not any one (or a couple) users. just like the other high level monks get to decide which nodes get placed on the front page. when you hang out here long enough, and contribute enough to the site, you will be able to do these things as well.

we're a community. you can't become an elder in this community until you show some wisdom and maturity. now enough on this subject. lets get back to Perl.
