Numeric Nodelet Ordering in User Settings

Ease of use request:

I rearranged my nodelet order today, and it took quite a while. Perhaps there was an easier way, but I used the up/down links to shuffle the nodelet order. Since something in [Me, Monks] was slow, it took me 15 minutes to update each list. [Yes, I want them slightly different - I suppose a sub-request would be an option to clone the Frontpage list with add/removes?]

I've seen pages on other sites with numeric ordering, essentially a text box used to enter a ranking for each entry. Should duplicate rankings occur, the items are ordered either arbitrarily or lexicographically.

Is this possible? Is it easy to do?

Update: Ackkk! I tried to read through everything relevant first, but missed it. Thanks for the pointer.

Should Nodelet Settings be incorporated into User Settings? No, I'd much rather replace the nodelet configuration panes in User Settings with a simple link to Nodelet Settings. The User Settings page has too much stuff on it as-is. This will require that Nodelet Settings get a couple of check boxes added. I'd also like to completely replace the Personal Nodelet configuration stuff with something that supports full text edit (on a separate page). I'd like to move the back-compatability "GMT offset" timezone drop-down menu since it uses old-style timezones where +/- are reversed compared to what people expect these days and seems to prevent people from clicking on the link before it (to Timezone Settings) that lets you set a real® timezone. - tye	[reply]
