mce has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Hi All,

I am trying to install a game from sourceforge called frozenbubble.
This requires SDL_perl installed.
Now, I have activestate perl 5.8 and the SDL_perl builds that are ready for download are for 5.6.

I searched google but found no link where I could download the SDL_perl for 5.8.
Does anyone here know where I can get it?

Thanks in advance,

You should be able to find binary RPM's for Linux and executables for windows that include all dependencies. In Linux, compiling SDL can be quite a challenge, and this is why frozenbubble (as installed by RedHat) keeps it's own copy of the modules in a seperate directory.

    http://sdl.perl.org/

      Well, yes and no.

No, in that it has no binaries and probably never will. It may contain links to binaries, but it doesn't now.

Yes, in that it'll eventually be the place to go to find out what's available where.

No, in that the snapshots probably don't even build on Win32, since the build process doesn't know anything about how to build on Win32. (This is partially because *I* don't really want to know about how to build on Win32, but I have a couple of patches to try.)

The build process doesn't need to know anything about how to build on win32, it just has to not be specific to linux only.
