The cheapest way to organize a non profit event is to have the patronage of a university or faculty or professor. They could at least cut the prize.
For instance someone in London could try to ask the UCL which is listing bioperl in it's open source repo. (They used Perl for research and should be interested to keep it alive.) But we discussed this before and you sit in Switzerland and I'm in Germany. So someone in London trying to ask those academics would be great. (Wink! 😉)
