How old of an iMac? Was it running OSX? OS9 and below wasn't really designed for developers, so most don't really like it. OSX, on the other hand, is a different story all together...
However, OS9 and below are still extremely user friendly, IMHO, for people who don't have to write code.

Snippets of code should be wrapped in
<code> tags not
<pre> tags. In fact, <pre>
tags should generally be avoided. If they must
be used, extreme care should be
taken to ensure that their contents do not
have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent
horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor
intervention).
