The initiative of the brazilian developers groups to bring to Porto Alegre the first Perl Developers International Meeting officialized by the Perl Foundation was a complete success.

The meeting, that took place in the 6º International Free Softawre Forum, brought excelent results, showing that the Perl language is more present in the programming community than ever.

Crowded lectures and a growing interest by the attendants of the Forum were the marks of the meeting, that brought to the city Randal L. Schwartz (merlyn), one of the most influents personalities of the language worldwide. Schwartz attended the opening ceremony of YAPC::Brasil, aside from lecturing on both events.

The meeting's climax was the foundation of Perl Society of Brazil, entity that will be responsible for the support to language use and development on national territory.

The next brazilian YAPC will take place in november at Sao Paulo and already has Schwartz's presence confirmed.

YAPC::Brasil 2005 é sucesso absoluto

A iniciativa dos grupos de desenvolvedores brasileiros de trazer a Porto Alegre o primeiro Encontro Internacional de Desenvolvedores Perl homologado pela Perl Foundation foi um sucesso.

Realizado paralelamente ao 6º Fórum Internacional de Software Livre, o evento trouxe excelentes resultados, demonstrando que a linguagem Perl está mais presente do que nunca entre os programadores.

Palestras lotadas e um crescente interesse por parte dos participantes do Fórum pautaram o evento, que trouxe à cidade Randal L. Schwartz, uma das personalidades mais influentes da linguagem no mundo. Schwartz esteve presente na mesa de abertura do YAPC::Brasil, além de apresentar palestras em ambos os eventos.

O encontro culminou na criação da SPB - Sociedade Perl do Brasil, entidade que será responsável pelo apoio ao desenvolvimento e utilização da linguagem no território nacional.

O próximo YAPC brasileiro acontecerá em novembro em São Paulo e já conta com a presença confirmada de Randal L. Schwartz.
