Luckily, the XML already has provisions for what the parent ID of a response is, so maintaining threading across
subject line changes is a non-issue
The only problem I see is that the XML generated by newest nodes xml generator
does not have the node id of the thread, just the parent's.
This means that the 'bots would need to manage it. That's
possible, but kind of a pain. Is there no way to get the
thread's first node id in the XML?

Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
<code> <a> <b> <big>
<blockquote> <br /> <dd>
<dl> <dt> <em> <font>
<h1> <h2> <h3> <h4>
<h5> <h6> <hr /> <i>
<li> <nbsp> <ol> <p>
<small> <strike> <strong>
  <table>
<td> <th> <tr> <tt>
<u> <ul>
-
Snippets of code should be wrapped in
<code> tags not
<pre> tags. In fact, <pre>
tags should generally be avoided. If they must
be used, extreme care should be
taken to ensure that their contents do not
have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent
horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor
intervention).
