And you to whom adversity has dealt the final blow I'm a civil engineer who has been using Perl for an incredibly long time now considering how little I know about it (the oldest of my scripts that is still on my current machine was last edited 3 June 1992, but I'm sure I've got older ones in my archives). I'm still a novice as I use Perl almost exclusively for data manipulations (e.g. land survey co-ordinate transforms and error checking, traffic collision statistics, processing traffic detection hardware output, traffic flow analysis, etc.) under Windows (and LINUX when possible to get some speed), and at one time VAXen under good old VMS. By the way, when I say "traffic" I'm talking about cars and trucks on roads, not communications packets, though some might be surprised about the similarities. I once wrote an entire project management and cost control data collection and reporting system in Perl4 for DOS, but on the other hand I just barely know what CGI stands for, and overloading is something that breaks your pickup's springs, right?
