3) There's nothing you can do in Perl that you can't do in Java.

...except get stuff done faster. For certain values of 'stuff' and 'done' (those values being the ones I care about).

    And for other people you can swap the "Perl" and "Java" around :-)

    (also if you take platforms into account there are lots of things you can do in Perl that you cannot do in Java, and lots of things in Java that you cannot do in Perl.)
