Done. If anybody has a way to search the docs using that site, I'd love to hear it, so we can move perldoc:// over as well.

At the moment there isn't a search engine on perldoc.perldrunks.org - this is something that wll be added in the future, but I can't promise any timescales ($WORK and /pub always get in the way... :-)

Could you make perldoc:// link to a Google advanced search with site=perldoc.perldrunks.org instead?

Are you interested in getting help with search engine?

I would gladly contribute perl code to index and search perldrunks using swish-e. I could even host search engine on my site if installation of swish-e on perldrunks is problem.

Thanks for the offer sbout swish-e, but the search engine actually needs to be written in JavaScript. One of the design considerations for perldoc.perldrunks.org is that all features need to work from a CD-ROM as well as a web server (see http://perl.jonallen.info/projects/perldoc), so I can't use anything that needs to be run server-side.
