CPANPLUS and Module::Build

Two items of potential interest to users of CPANPLUS and module authors using Module::Build:

  • Jos Boumans announced last Friday on the Module::Build mailing list that the CPANPLUS team is splitting off CPANPLUS::Dist::Build from the main CPANPLUS distribution and will no longer be supporting it directly. Discussions on the list have begun regarding transitioning development to the Module::Build team.

  • Inspection of CPANPLUS::Dist::Build revealed that it currently does not support the "build_requires" parameter of Module::Build, which can cause test-failures if modules needed for testing are not installed. A workaround for module authors is to include "build_requires" modules in the "requires" parameter instead. (This is similar to how Module::Build::Compat creates PREREQ_PM for Makefile.PL in "traditional" mode.)
