I hail from the north country, where the devil and the cold winds wail

For those of you wondering why a Judo instructor is studying Perl: because when I was a Computer Science major in college (in the days before GUI and a home PC was at best an Apple IIe or a 286 running DOS) I was told that there was no future for programmers. So I changed majors, not listening to my heart. I now study Judo to relieve the frustration of listening to those "above" me.

So I am attempting to return to the field that interests me the most: the mystical science and magic of programing. I enjoy facing a problem and solving it.

Personal Info:

Music: Husker Du, Glenngary Bhoys and *shudder* '80s dance music (dunno, something about "You Spin Me 'Round")

Movies: anything Akira Kurosawa, esp Sanshiro Sugata

Books Read Recently:
The Dragonrides of Pern, or anything else in this series, by Anne McCaffrey.
The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant, the Unbeliever, both the first and second trilogies, by Stephen Donaldson.
Have A Nice Day, by Mick Foley.
Learning Perl, by merlyn and Mr. Christiansen.
Seven Pillars of Wisdom, by T.E. Lawrence.

Favorite Quotes:

It's only pain: Ken Durnand, Godan.
All men dream: but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act out their dream with open eyes, to make it possible.: T.E. Lawrence (Lawrence of Arabia), Seven Pillars of Wisdom.
