number of replys wrong?

by bjelli (Pilgrim)
on Mar 13, 2001 at 19:42 UTC ( [id://64122]=monkdiscuss: print w/replies, xml ) Need Help??

Am I hallucinating, or is the number of replies given on the front page often misleading? I just answered a question, that had "0 replys", only to find that japhy had already answered it.

now there are 2 answers, but in seekers of perl wisdom it still says "1 reply". Why doesn't japhys answer count <kbd>;-)</KBD>

bjelli, I am a saint now. This means that, while you can feel the effects of my actions on earth, there is no physical evidence of them. Except for this post. Damn. I'm working on that part.

Also keep in mind that new questions tend to be pounced on quicker than an open can of tuna thrown into a room full of hungry cats. :) So the count is never very accurate, at least until the smoke clears after about 10-15 minutes...

I'd bet it has to do with caching. You're seeing slightly out-of-date information which is the purchase price of reduced server load and increased speed.

I think that those were originally in Categorized Questions and Answers and the "SoPWify" button leaves the count of the number of replies as 0. A simple bug with that neat QandAEditors' feature. But I'm not sure.
