I'd suggest you test your network with more stable tools, such as nc (netcat) or telnet.

That could save you lots of trouble ;-)

    My tools are quite stable (apart form the first one..that was just a mistake on my part). I have tried 2 different tools now, and they give the same result, Thats why I cant work out where the extra spaces are coming from.
