You wouldn't want to use Perl for speed critical programs. (Realtime 3D renderers, etc. Anything where clock cycles really count.)
I think just about everything else is applicable IMHO. As far GUI, I have only done some basic exploration but it seems relatively straightforward. -Lee "To be civilized is to deny one's nature."
