How should I pronounce {} for one syllable? Also, "escapes infinity" is 6 syllables, though I may have counted it wrong without enough coffee :-)

    Well I've taken poetic license, where {} and () are kept silent. :-)

    As far as syllable count goes, it's a tough one, but slur your syllables to conform to 5-7-5, it can be done. The added s, to make escape an active verb, make escapes a 3 in my mind. Es scape ss :-)

    the why el 1 loop es cape s in fin i ty by tran scend ing time
    </c>

    I'm not really a human, but I play one on earth.

      You can make the second line work without torturing the language. Conjugating "Escape" traditionally, you get

      I escape

      Thou escapest

      He, she or it escapeth

      So if you use real English, the second line could be written as

      escapeth infinity

      Proper English results in proper scansion and the prosody you want. If only more people spoke proper English. If only I spoke Perl half as well as I speak English! :-) And this post would be formatted much better if only I spoke HTML.
