( [id://3333]=superdoc: print w/replies, xml ) Need Help??
Dear fellow Monks,

I've been almost completely disconnected from PerlMonks for most of this year. A lot of things have happened in my life, fortunately most of them very good. First, I finished my Ph.D., which was the culprit for me turning into a hermit for the last few months. Last week we (my wife and me) finished moving out of Indiana, and now we are spending some time at home (Mexico). Finally, next month (September 24) we will be moving to Zurich! I have a job with the IBM Zurich Research Lab starting in October 1st, so this previously-americanized Mexican monk will have to learn Swiss-German, learn to count in Swiss Francs and adapt to a whole new world. This is a very exciting time!

So why am I telling you all of this? Well, first of all, because I had to tell someone, and this is one place where I feel very comfortable, almost like at home. Second, because I have several /msgs to which I have not responded (most of them about the PerlMonks modules), so I wanted to let you know why I had been so quiet, and promise that I will try to get back on track, although I might be incomunicated again for a while during and after the actual move. And finally, because we'll be landing in a new country, with a new language and a new culture, and I'm sure we wouldn't mind a friendly face (or email) or two. So if you are a monk in or around Zurich (we will live in Thalwil initially) and would like to get together for a cup of coffee after September, or have any pieces of wisdom you would like to share, feel free to /msg me or reply below.

Thanks, and best regards,

Title:
Use:  <p> text here (a paragraph) </p>
and:  <code> code here </code>
to format your post; it's "PerlMonks-approved HTML":

  • Are you posting in the right place? Check out Where do I post X? to know for sure.
  • Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
    <code> <a> <b> <big> <blockquote> <br /> <dd> <dl> <dt> <em> <font> <h1> <h2> <h3> <h4> <h5> <h6> <hr /> <i> <li> <nbsp> <ol> <p> <small> <strike> <strong> <table> <td> <th> <tr> <tt> <u> <ul>
  • Snippets of code should be wrapped in <code> tags not <pre> tags. In fact, <pre> tags should generally be avoided. If they must be used, extreme care should be taken to ensure that their contents do not have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor intervention).
  • Want more info? How to link or How to display code and escape characters are good places to start.
