( #3333=superdoc: print w/replies, xml ) Need Help??
I work in a studio which is active, among other things, in graphic design. Here I learnt how much graphic organization of data is important.

Trusting the principle A picture's worth one thousand words, I'd like to apply that to computer programming. I think it's possible to lay out code so that, with a glimpse, we could know what is doing, and how. After, we could focus on the segment we are interested in. I mean something that concerns indentation, syntax highlighting, but much more: teaching (for example, lay out code for books), cognitive sciences and so on.

I ask to monks who have graphic-, art- and desktop-publishing- backgrounds (does anyone?): How much could a program be beautiful and easy to comprehend? Now, I'm going to try something with Adobe Illustrator... :)

see you. lars

Title:
Use:  <p> text here (a paragraph) </p>
and:  <code> code here </code>
to format your post; it's "PerlMonks-approved HTML":

  • Are you posting in the right place? Check out Where do I post X? to know for sure.
  • Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
    <code> <a> <b> <big> <blockquote> <br /> <dd> <dl> <dt> <em> <font> <h1> <h2> <h3> <h4> <h5> <h6> <hr /> <i> <li> <nbsp> <ol> <p> <small> <strike> <strong> <table> <td> <th> <tr> <tt> <u> <ul>
  • Snippets of code should be wrapped in <code> tags not <pre> tags. In fact, <pre> tags should generally be avoided. If they must be used, extreme care should be taken to ensure that their contents do not have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor intervention).
  • Want more info? How to link or or How to display code and escape characters are good places to start.
