Yes, I see that the cookbook has lots of examples, but it doesn't seem to contain an introductory discussion of what POE is and why you'd want to use it. Perhaps the intention is that users will figure this out by osmosis. Or else maybe it's usefulness is hard to see unless you've already painstakingly implemented certain things yourself, by hand (things which would've been easier using POE).

Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
<code> <a> <b> <big>
<blockquote> <br /> <dd>
<dl> <dt> <em> <font>
<h1> <h2> <h3> <h4>
<h5> <h6> <hr /> <i>
<li> <nbsp> <ol> <p>
<small> <strike> <strong>
  <table>
<td> <th> <tr> <tt>
<u> <ul>
-
Snippets of code should be wrapped in
<code> tags not
<pre> tags. In fact, <pre>
tags should generally be avoided. If they must
be used, extreme care should be
taken to ensure that their contents do not
have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent
horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor
intervention).
