if running windoze, you can use "Free Hide Folder". After placing your all important files in a directory you can hide it from the O/S and any lurking thieves or spies...
it is still possible to view and retrieve your information in this hidden state, however this won't be possible for your average user or even just any advanced user...
unix....permissions, permissions, shadow mounts, special characters, etc...
