I thought the discussion node might be the right place for this...

It seems to me that PerlMonks.org is missing one thing that it could truly use, and that is a section for Perl humor... There is a lot of funny stuff in the ChatterBox that could be saved for posterity and be read and enjoyed by more monks. That, and we have some plain damned funny monks (not just funny looking). We monks need to be able to put on our wacky glasses and our tie dyed robes and get funky!

Does anyone agree?

    No.

Update: From 0 to -2 in two minutes. For the rest of you with a vote left today, this was a joke.

Hmm, the update line made me think of whether the NodeReaper could play Nicholas Cage's role from "Gone in 60 Seconds" (I think it did, actually, on one particularly heavy troll-day).

Getting Serious about Humour : Humour, here as elsewhere, is where you find it. A lot of it is situational. Like the very node to which this is a response. Why should anybody feel constrained to humorize in a specific location? "Sorry sir, this is a 'no-joke' zone" might be the impression if there were an explicit humour section.

Think of it as finding the raisins in the pudding (how English to think *that's* luxury, hm?)

Humor is where you find it, but I was thinking of something silly a little bit ago, and really couldn't see a place to put it... I don't wwant to annoy people by posting something plain silly in the nodes that focus on help, and the others just don't seem to fit... we have obfuscation, and poetry, but no place to just plunk down any old thing in our head that seems funny... CB is closest thing... but you really need to keep up to date with that.

    <humor>

There once was a Monk from Louisee,
who installed a module called Bone::Easy.
        Imagine his surprise,
        When after numerous tries,
His computer whispered, "Just go easy..."

If it were it's own section which I can skip over when I am feeling pedantic :) Otherwise, I could use some good knock knock jokes, or quote-out-of-context stuff from the CB.

    Cheers,
    KM

That is exactly what I mean... a whole other section... where people can put silly code and whatever without people complaining that it's not productive or whatever... psuedo code for Crack::HO, whch does anything you want, but you have to give it illicit drugs... and as you go on, you have to give it more and more drugs for less and less useful work... silly stuff like that

Hehe, see... someone already didn't like my Crack::HO idea ;-) tasteless, but funny, not a thing for SOPW or Craft or Meditations or Discussions... just don't fit

Yes. Let's whack this section in. Then I can move in and bring all my useless nodes with me :)
Long as your whacking in, and not whacking off... eh?

Ok, If I had said "Let's whack this section on", then your reply would have been funny :P.

Personally I think some of the nodes that are posted are somewhat funny in their own regards%^)
