Do you realize that there are already people with existing cookies from perlmonks.org? We simply expire all active sessions and everyone logs back in ONE time. The device has yet to be invented that could notice that miniscule of a difference in server load. I have no idea what the current server loads are and what the exact site traffic is, not to mention the fact that I dont know how the current rendering is done so that was an uneducated guess on my part.
