I m missing parts of the MySQL/DBI discussion because some notes are below my "chosen" depth. I checked my settings and I have chosen nothing.... How do I say infinite depth? I dont want to miss any msgs.

Replies are listed 'Best First'.

You could set note depth to some arbitrarily large value to override the default. Or you could click on the note that appears above that node to see the information below it.

I know this has been discussed many, many times, but after reading all of the discourse (I think all of it) I still am experiencing somewhat of a disconnect between what I have read and what I have experienced (perhaps they are older notes describing a different User Settings screen than that which currently exists).

How large exactly is arbitrarily large? My previous depth was set to 100, and I was unable to see 4th-level replies. I changed it to 1000, to no effect.

What relationship exists (if any) between the number entered for Text Depth and the number of levels of reply that will be visible?

While we're at it, what does entering a non-zero value for Note Text Threshold do?

Update: OK, I think I have it figured out now. Text Depth should be set to the number of levels one wishes to see headers for, while Text Threshold should be set to the highest level for which one wishes to see the body text. I have now set the former to 100 and the latter to 101, which allows me to see pretty much everything. Sorry for the interruption. I seem to have answered my own question.
