I consider driving on the top of the road to be safest generally....
by gryng (Hermit) on Jul 06, 2000 at 18:02 UTC
Is there any doubt? The top of the road is the safest, generally. The bottom side doesn't sound too fun, and left and right sides require me to know what country I'm in (yeah like I'd be able to figure that out).

    Ciao ;) ,
    Gryn
Top of the road is the safest? Every car accident I hear about occurs on the top of the road, clearly the bottom is much safer.
        Nardo,
Could you please tell me what kind of modifications you've made to your car? Or what kind of vehicle you drive?

You've convinced me of the relative safeness of the bottom side of the road (that is, until it becomes as popular as the top). However, I don't know how to get my VW to drive down there, help! :)

        Ciao,
        Gryn

I consider the side without a brown Volvo on it to be the safer side of the road.

(There was a thread a few years back on a motorcycle mailing list about cars which cause accidents. A disproportionate number of people who'd been hit had been hit by old people driving brown Volvos.)

Driving on the Left is probably the safest (if like me, you live in England), Better yet don't drive at all, save the planet!

I consider pretty much everywhere on the road. I ride a motorcycle and for each car lane there are 3 bike lanes. So I like the left lane out of the three but I am always ready to use the 4th lane(the white line on the side of the road) when traffic gets bad.

    --BigJoe
I also ride a motorbike and I have found the center lane to be the best during peak traffic. Theres nothing like going straight up the middle of a huge queue of tin-tops at the lights. I feel so sorry for car drivers :)
Until someone swings their car door open in your path :-( or spits tobacco out an open window. ;^P

I useta ride, though, so I know watcha mean. Biking can be a close second to sex, eh. 2nd near-fatal accident kept me off for good, though.

I agree, driving on the left is the safest. And I live in the USA!!

Left, usually, but that means having to open my eyes to check, so I'll just leave it to fate. XoYo
If your eyes are closed, can you invoke Schrodinger and drive on all sides at once until somebody collapses the probabilty wave? ( and likely your fender as well ).

Mik Firestone ( perlus bigotus maximus )

If you're going to invoke Schroedinger, you need to include a cat in the car, so you can tell whether or not the inevitable accident is fatal. :)

The top of the road is the "side" where I want to be, because not only it is the safest, but it is also the direction my philosophy asks me to take: up, up, up, because I want to improve myself all the time and become a Saint.

Judging by how dangerous the road is with all the cars and motorbikes, the pavements got to be the safest place. (Although the odd pedestrian can be a bit of a nuisance) Hee
