I started coding Perl in 1996, PASCAL and x86 in 1994, C in 1991, and BASIC some time in the mid 80's. Of these, I only use Perl nowadays, but keep a hand in C (and a tiny bit of C++) as it's useful to know for playing with open source doo-waddys.

I tried to join Perl Monks ages ago, and never got my welcome e-mail. So I sent mails to postmaster (which were rejected, oh dear!) and did some other tests and it appeared my server wasn't getting any love. Quite some time later, I tried again, and now I'm here. It has been quite some time coming ;-)

Most of the people who know me (in a programming capacity) know I'm fiercely protective of Perl and seem to sing its praises constantly. Whether this is a flaw or a blessing, I shall not say ;-)

I have a weblog at www.boog.co.uk and a tiny bio bit at petercooper.co.uk.
