Hi there,
I just sent posted this example block of code on another node, but I ended up using MIME::Lite to send email through smtp. In this example I sent a tar file
my $mail = MIME::Lite->new(
From=> 'me@me.com,
To=> 'someone@cool.com',
Subject=> "Hello email ",
Type=>'multipart/mixed'
);
$mail->attach(
Type => 'application/x-tar',
Encoding => 'base64',
Path => 'C:\path\to\file.tar',
Filename => "file.tar"
);
MIME::Lite->send('smtp','server.smtp.com',Debug=>0);
$mail->send;
I am aware that one of the first lines of documentation for this module the author discourages using MIME::Lite. I have also used MIME::Entity in its place. Hope this helps..

Are you posting in the right place? Check out Where do I post X? to know for sure.

Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
<code> <a> <b> <big>
<blockquote> <br /> <dd>
<dl> <dt> <em> <font>
<h1> <h2> <h3> <h4>
<h5> <h6> <hr /> <i>
<li> <nbsp> <ol> <p>
<small> <strike> <strong>
  <table>
<td> <th> <tr> <tt>
<u> <ul>
-
Snippets of code should be wrapped in
<code> tags not
<pre> tags. In fact, <pre>
tags should generally be avoided. If they must
be used, extreme care should be
taken to ensure that their contents do not
have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent
horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor
intervention).
