Freecycle is a great concept. I recently signed up for 2 local groups, and I get the digest emails. I've stopped reading the mails though, because 80% of the offers are from 2 annoying people who must be rummaging through their neighbors' trash and posting separate messages about every small thing that they find. And when something isn't taken, they re-offer it 5 times. I haven't unsubscribed yet though, because I'm planning on someday getting around to writing a script that filters out messages from those 2 users.

I have an O'Reilly Javascript book (3rd edition) and an O'Reilly DHTML book, msg me if you're interested. Frankly, I've never really used them. I've found that the info is always easier to get from google than by actually getting up and finding the books.

Title:
Use:  <p> text here (a paragraph) </p>
and:  <code> code here </code>
to format your post; it's "PerlMonks-approved HTML":

  • Are you posting in the right place? Check out Where do I post X? to know for sure.
  • Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
    <code> <a> <b> <big> <blockquote> <br /> <dd> <dl> <dt> <em> <font> <h1> <h2> <h3> <h4> <h5> <h6> <hr /> <i> <li> <nbsp> <ol> <p> <small> <strike> <strong> <table> <td> <th> <tr> <tt> <u> <ul>
  • Snippets of code should be wrapped in <code> tags not <pre> tags. In fact, <pre> tags should generally be avoided. If they must be used, extreme care should be taken to ensure that their contents do not have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor intervention).
  • Want more info? How to link or How to display code and escape characters are good places to start.
