merlyn raised another question : What does the existence of editors mean for Perlmonks ?
I did not.
I think my thrust was basically along the lines of:
- In theory, there should be no reason not to discuss DeCSS here.
- In practice, vroom probably has neither the deep pockets nor the will
to fight the MPAA on Monestary turf.
Since the MPAA has been winning injunctions left and right, it's probably
easier just to forbid this controversial subject here, and discuss it
elsewhere where the pockets are deeper and wider.

Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
<code> <a> <b> <big>
<blockquote> <br /> <dd>
<dl> <dt> <em> <font>
<h1> <h2> <h3> <h4>
<h5> <h6> <hr /> <i>
<li> <nbsp> <ol> <p>
<small> <strike> <strong>
  <table>
<td> <th> <tr> <tt>
<u> <ul>
-
Snippets of code should be wrapped in
<code> tags not
<pre> tags. In fact, <pre>
tags should generally be avoided. If they must
be used, extreme care should be
taken to ensure that their contents do not
have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent
horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor
intervention).
