C++ for sure! Depending on what you want to do. I work for an EDA company and all the engineers use it. Cobol???? That still in use? ;-) If you want mainframes or business then that is where you would find it. I don't want to know it. Don't know of anybody programming it anymore. Visual Basic? Well I have worked a couple jobs and have not found it used yet. It has a large following however. I would pick this over Cobol. Might I suggest Python? Many of the Engineers use it for running their test cases and job builds. In fact I was ordered to learn it as well. I am surprised you school does not offer Perl.
