      Ok, now you're just trying to up your post count, so I'll join you! :)

      Look at the OP's goal, to learn Perl from the basics, to the advanced topics. A books age should not matter when the content is still relevent towards providing the information that satisfies ones learning path. I just feel your comment is more discouraging to a suggested title from a fellow Perl user, than encouraging, that's all.

        FWIW, Some hermit crabs just don't understand there is "the design" and "the implementation"

        TheDamian's book can still teach you design (like OOSC-2)
