    I assume your aren't subscribed to the perl6 or parrot deveopment lists. There's a heck of a lot of work going on and while I can't say anything about /when/ it'll be done there's no question on whether perl6 is active. Heck - you can even download a copy of parrot and start playing with it and perl6 though it's under active development and the actual implementation at any particular point will be in flux.

    Perl 6 isn't dead--it's not even resting. (Nor has it shuffled off to join the choir invisible) The language design is proceeding at the normal pace for a specification of its size, and the implementation is moving along nicely.

    Grab what we have and give it a shot. You may be rather surprised to see how far along things are.
