My native language is Swedish, and I'd say "good" to "near-native" in English - I'm not sure if it is for me to judge. :)
I understand written and spoken Norwegian pretty ok (I think), and I can probably read some not too complicated Danish - both are not *that* different from Swedish. I couldn't make myself understood in either though. :) I studied some German a lot of years back, and at gunpoint I might be able to communicate a little, while reading it ranges from "No problemo!" to "Huh?", depending on the text and probably the subject. Same probably goes for listening to it, though I rarely have the opportunity. And oh, I think I know a few cooking terms in finnish, such as saying "sausages with fried potatoes". Lol. "Makkara ja paistettu peruna"? Never mind the spelling, it was years and years ago, when I worked as a chef at a place that had a lot of finnish truck drivers stopping by. :) You have moved into a dark place. It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.
