Think I would just create a local html page with a single frame (or two if needed) that loads perl monks, then just do a simple javascript timer to refresh every 3 minutes.

    I think the point is that it would be nice if there was an alternate entryway to Perlmonks provided by Perlmonks that did this. That way, you have all sorts of things like a drop-down for how often you want the page refreshed, etc.
