in reply to Should snippet nodes be front pageable?

The only reason I can think of against it offhand, would be that code/snippet nodes tend to be long in actual content, and we'd have to just display the text parts. Currently the frontpaging code only deals with displaying entire doctexts of document type nodes, and not special fields, which snippet has. Not that they wouldn't be impossible to add though.

Other than that, I tend to watch neither the Gates nor the Snippet section, so I don't mind either way.

I may be interested in a "Best Snippets" though, arranged by Rep and/or "Type" somehow..

I think it's hard to say what snippets are good or bad by their reputation, cause a lot of folks seems to ignore them and so they get less votes. And of course it's very different what someone finds usefull and what not.

I tend to agree; and the same is true of Tutorials and Meditations as well. I rather like the way it's typically done now, which is that people can list their favorite nodes on their homenodes. For example, see Most popular links on homenodes.

That's why we have readmore tags.

snippets work a little differently then most node types. they intrinsicly have a "description" field which is seperate from the code field. The section page displays the description, but never displays the code. presumably if they were front pageable, the front page should behave the same way.
