( [id://3333]=superdoc: print w/replies, xml ) Need Help??
Boy, you should see some of things people have said in IRC, IM, etc., in their attempts to shock me ... some times, I think I should have picked a different nick ... but, it's the nick I chose way back in '96, and it's stuck. Most people don't refer to me in the formal (ShockMe), but rather the more familiar (shock). And yes, many people call me 'shock'. I've never capitalized it (because I'm lazy that way), and I don't recall anyone else ever doing it either.

shock - v. shocked, shockˇing, shocks
v. tr.

  1. To strike with great surprise and emotional disturbance.
  2. To strike with disgust; offend.
  3. To induce a state of physical shock in (a person).
  4. To subject (an animal or person) to an electric shock.

me - pron. The objective case of I.

  1. Used as the direct object of a verb: He assisted me.
  2. Used as the indirect object of a verb: They offered me a ride.
  3. Used as the object of a preposition: This letter is addressed to me.
  4. Informal. Used as a predicate nominative: It's me.
  5. Nonstandard. Used reflexively as the indirect object of a verb: I bought me a new car.

It's all about me, baby. Me, ME, ME! See, you don't realize it, but everything revolves around me. Even you. I am the center of the universe, and you are all just little lights in the sky. Sometimes, late at night, I go outside and listen to my dogs bark at you ...

Seriously, though, it's from the album Love Gun (1977) by Kiss. It was Ace Frehley's first time behind the microphone, and it rocked ... Ace wrote the song in response to an incident which happened when he was on tour in Florida. A high voltage wire had fallen behind the stage and had made connection with a hand rail on one of the stairs. As Ace stepped onto the stage, he held the neck of his guitar with one hand, and with the other, he grabbed the hand rail. Of course, he went down like a ton of bricks ...

The song doesn't have anything to do with the incident. The song's all about sex.

But what isn't?

I chose the nick because (1) it's one of my favorite songs, (2) the definition suits me, and (3) ... well ... it's all about sex, baby!

If things get any worse, I'll have to ask you to stop helping me.

If they must be used, extreme care should be taken to ensure that their contents do not have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor intervention).
