It's not a bug, it's a feature that promotes learning patience and self-restraint as a counter-measure against vanity. As a matter of fact, it might be the best tool we have in breaking the cycle of narcissism; Imagine pining over our own list of nodes with such fervor that we eventually suffer Narcissus' fate, in a 21st century form, transforming into a beautiful Lambda function existing only a few brief moments before passing out of scope and summoning the collapse of the perfection that is our closure environment. We have the gods to thank for sparing us from our own demise.

I quite frequently see this if I try to look at the list at (around) 7am GMT. I've always assumed that this is due to the DB being backed up or similar. Wait 1/2 an hour or so and the list is back.

"Also patience is mispelled.... s/patients/patience/ I'm not a doctor." - and so is "you're" (short for "you are", a common error). These are humerus mispellings for comic effect. If you take a good look around the site you will find a few more in similar vein.

It didn't call you a doctor, it called you a patient.
In addition to being a humourous homophone for "We thank you for your patience", I believe "We thank you, for you're patients" imparts that the site is run by volunteers, and that you are subject to their trials and mistakes.

That Nodes You Wrote sometimes doesn't work is a known bug. If it's the list of your own nodes you want to see, then you can usually work it around like this: go to Display Settings, submit it (you need not change any settings), then go reload your list of nodes. If you want to list someone else's nodes, then you can't use this workaround. You can also Super Search for a user's nodes, but that only displays 50 nodes at once. (Update: lately I suspect it's not the submitting Display Settings that fixes this, but just some random background event so I just have to wait a few minutes. Update: In fact, I'm also starting to suspect that for as long as your Nodes You Wrote doesn't load you also cannot post new replies: you get a Permission Denied error when you try to submit.)
Also, the "patients" message is a known feature and is probably supposed to be a joke like the "stumbit" button when editing your homenode.

The act of submitting Display Settings corrects your number of write-ups which can change your home node from showing "Writeups: none". But this is not the problem that was being complained about. Even when the cached count of write-ups is 0, you still get a link to the list of write-ups and the list of write-ups will be populated.
The complaint was about going to the list of write-ups and getting a 'server error'.
By the way, there used to be a misfeature of the node cache that could result in all of your user settings being blown away if you visited when the DB was bogged down and you got unlucky. This was, by far, the most common reason people ended up with "Writeups: none" on their homenode (and that was certainly not the worst part). I believe that misfeature has been fixed and that we haven't had anybody have all of their user settings be reset in a very long time.

I understand that these are two different errors, but no, I really meant what I said in my reply. These years I often get the more serious symptom when the list of replies on Nodes You Wrote is actually replaced by a server error, and submitting Display Settings does fix this in my experience. I don't know what the cause of this error is, nor why it doesn't happen after submitting Display Settings.
