And, unfortunally, perl doesn't satisfy your point 4.
There has been more than 2 years between 5.6.0 and 5.8.0,
with only 5.6.1 in between. (5.7.x are development releases).
And I'm afraid, it will be the same on the road to 5.10. Abigail
